Welcome to Budding Flower Farm!
Meet Kim!
It’s hard to know exactly where the beginning is because I have been dabbling in agriculture most of my life. I grew up in Belknap County 4-H clubs ranging in focus from livestock, to growing veggies, to arts and crafts. I absolutely loved being in 4-H!
In my 20’s, I explored other lifestyles and continued to be called back to my roots in agriculture.
In 2012 (ish?) I weaseled my way into working for Chuck and Diane Souther at Apple Hill Farm in Concord, NH and they haven’t been able to get rid of me since! One day, we were all huddled around buckets of cut flowers putting together bouquets and Diane said to me, “That one’s really pretty, I think you missed your calling!” Well, that’s all it took. Those few words were stored away in my brain for another decade.
In 2021, my husband and I decided to get married. Of course, I jumped right into growing my own flowers…how hard could it be? That was the beginning of the end. I plowed under the field at my parent’s house and filled it with flowers! To me, nothing was more rewarding than seeing my wedding smothered in flowers that I had grown on my own. I was hooked!
The following season I dabbled some with selling a few bouquets. Then one of the groomsmen from our wedding asked if I would grow flowers for his wedding the following year. I do love a good challenge!
So, in 2023 with a 2 1/2 year old, a 6 month old, and raw determination in tow, I started my business, Budding Flower Farm and continued to grow on my parent’s land. The wedding flowers were amazing and I learned more than I would have ever imagined!
After taking on a wedding, I met the following spring with discipline. Starting seeds and planting seedlings on a schedule, succession planting for season-long flowers, and weeding! I focused solely on making mixed bouquets and knew I needed my own farm someday. I was commuting 2 hours a day to get to my flowers on my parent’s property.
It took two years of “being serious” about the business and this past August (2025), my family and I purchased the old French Farm Greenhouses property in Henniker, NH! The property has not been in use for a number of years and we are working toward bringing it back to life. I am thrilled to be able to share our farm revival story as our journey unfolds! 2026 holds so much hope and potential, I would love for you to sign up for my monthly (or sometimes bi-weekly) newsletter so you can join in on the fun!
